Tony

What do you call a fly with no wings?????
A walk!!!!!!!

I used to do that you know - pull wings off flies to see them become walks. Now I got bigger things to think about.
Like these little creatures Dig and Ana and Remote who just gatecrashed Stevo n Ant's lives. I'm not gonna call them faeries cos that just sounds so girly and I swear it's gonna put other boys off reading this, I tried to tell the twins but the creatures say that's wot they are and they won't have it any other way.
Weird anyway me wanting to encourage other boys to read but, it's not like I'm asking you to read a book - yet. This is computers and it'll change your life.
I didn't get into this cos of the faeries mind you. I got into it cos of Steven. He's my best friend and whatever dumb things I've done or whatever trouble I'm in he's stuck by me. And that's pretty impressive for someone who's a twin, you'd expect them to only look out for each other but both of them manage to look out for their friends too.
To be honest, I was furious at first. When them faerie creatures just arrived in the classroom and started flitting about in front of mean ole Mr. Amles' face, I - well I bloody fainted didn't I? Me! Mr hardman of Wood Green, first day in big school and I faint in front of the class, talk about humiliating! I wasn't scared, no way, it was just the shock, my brain couldn't cope with the sight of something so unreal. Pretty cool really the way different people's brains dealt with it. Some people just didn't see them at all, Amles for one but judging by the way his hand were flying about he sure could feel them flapping about his face. Some people's brains decided it was birds they were looking at, my brain's too literal for that, I saw what they were and I didn't like it.
So the faint made me furious and the fact that Steve kept it secret from me for so long and went so weird at the same time. I can see why now of course and that's why I came through in the end. Which is how I discovered how mental these little creatures are, so cool and crazy and in some ways living more controlled lives than us and I got sucked into it all - us helping them and them helping us and they just turned out like another bunch of mates, only little and with wings and able to do some pretty wild magic things. I got to have battles with evil imps and dirty magic and help save lives and my best mate's sanity.
Now somehow I've ended up teaching little people to read and just look how much writing I've done - that's gotta be a record!
Why are we teaching them to read? Cos in their place below ground where we're too big to go, there's loads of secrets written everywhere and these little people (did I mention by the way that they're kids just like us?) don't even know it cos they don't know what writing is. The 'Elders' (grown-up faeries) have kept it secret cos they don't want them to know about us. They're afraid we might be a bad influence. They might be right, look at the way I used to be. But we can change, I proved that and that's what we want: us kids and the little people's kids to get together and change each other's lives for the better, hopefully even change the world and make it stronger and safer. I do have to warn you though you'll probably make each other's lives worse to start with, there'll be a ton of misunderstandings and mistakes and madness. Hopefully though this blog and the book will help. Maybe if you read some of the mistakes we made you'll be able to avoid them but maybe you'll just have to make them for yourselves before you learn. No matter. But don't think it's all plain sailing and happy adventure, this int no kids story. I don't wanna put you off - we need you - but you gotta know you'll be dealing with some nasty powers and you could end up in a life or death situation like we did. You have been warned...

Steven & Anthony, twins.

OK this is us. We're twelve and we're twins.
And we're not crazy.
But you'll think we are. That can't be helped.
Thing is you see... We woke up one day last summer to find... Oh you really are gonna think we're crazy but...
Just do us one favour ok? Hear us out. To the end. However crazy it sounds.
Never mind, I guess I just worked out that those of you who do read to the end will be the right ones. The ones we need. To help us save the world.
So we're getting right to it right now: faeries exist. Yep, we did say that, we're twelve and we like football and PS2 and WWE (sometimes) and fast cars. We're normal kids. We're poor and our dad's a drunk and our mum's a depressive but apart from that we're normal kids. And most definitely not crazy.
So why are we telling you faeries exist? Because they do. Because that's what, one morning last summer, we awoke to find screeching at us from our alarm clock.
But why are we telling YOU? Why not keep it a secret and avoid the sniggers and sneers maybe even the straight jackets?
Because we want you to know, we need you to know, YOU need to know.
Why do you need to know? Because it's cool having faeries in the world, because everything has a spirit and those spirits need freeing. The young faeries need our help. They are trapped underground and told we don't exist. Many of them have never seen the sun, or the sky, or the sea. And they can help us. To save the world. From Global Warming and all that.
They'll mess up your lives, but no more than they're already gonna be probably. And they'll add a sparkle to them too. They'll make you see everything fresh and wonder at it.
So help us now. Get in touch and help a faerie learn to read. They are surrounded by secrets written in front of their very eyes but they don't even know these squiggles are words.
